Project Background

"Elevating a Platform for Inclusion"

Incluude is an innovative platform developed through a collaboration between researchers, community members, and the Cultural Atlas team. It serves as a comprehensive directory and resource hub for religion and culture, providing valuable insights to support diversity, inclusion, and well-being.

By streamlining essential knowledge into a user-friendly platform, Incluude empowers individuals and organizations to foster empathy, build cultural understanding, and create inclusive workplaces and communities. The platform is also the driving force behind the SBS Inclusion Program, training thousands of professionals across various industries.

Approach

"Optimizing the Platform’s UX & UI"

When I joined the Incluude team as a UX/UI Designer, my focus was on refining one of its core features—the Filters system. The challenge was to enhance the navigation and usability to ensure users could effortlessly access relevant resources.

To achieve this, I focused on:

  • Simplifying the filtering process for a smoother user experience
  • Enhancing content categorization to provide a more structured and intuitive approach
  • Improving navigation flows to make information discovery seamless
  • Implementing responsive design principles to optimize the platform across all devices

Discovery & Understanding

"Addressing User Challenges"

Incluude already had an in-house UX/UI team, but they sought an external perspective to refine key usability aspects. Through stakeholder discussions and A/B testing, I identified areas for improvement and introduced UX refinements that streamlined the platform’s usability.

Key focus areas included:

  • Navigation restructuring for better accessibility
  • Resource preview improvements to optimize one-page content readability
  • Category-based organization for easier browsing

Designing Solution

"A Strategic UX Overhaul"

Since Incluude is a large-scale platform, every design enhancement needed to be scalable and impactful. I applied a categorization-style approach to help users find content quickly while ensuring the UI remained clean and intuitive.

Some key implementations included:

  • Responsive design updates to enhance mobile and tablet usability
  • Optimized resource preview layouts for better readability
  • Refined filter interactions to improve speed and efficiency
  • Consistent UI patterns to ensure a cohesive experience

Testing & Iteration

"Data-Driven Enhancements"

Through A/B testing with stakeholders, we refined design elements based on user feedback and performance metrics. The iterative approach allowed us to fine-tune aspects like filter placement, category organization, and navigation behavior for an optimized user experience.

Final improvements included:

  • Faster and more intuitive filtering
  • Visually streamlined navigation components
  • A polished UI that balances aesthetics with functionality

Results

"A Fast-Paced Project with a Lasting Impact"

Although this was a short-term project, the outcomes were significant and long-lasting. The upgraded filter system, navigation structure, and resource preview layouts provided a more user-friendly experience, helping Incluude better serve its mission of fostering inclusion through accessible knowledge.

It was a rewarding experience collaborating with an established UX/UI team, bringing in fresh design insights, and leaving a meaningful impact on a platform dedicated to diversity and cultural awareness.
